Biographical note

Przemysław Witek - concert pianist and teacher at the
I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań.

He was born on 3 April 1985 in Wałbrzych, Poland where he started his piano education in Stanisław Moniuszko Complex of Music Schools. From 2001 he was studying under the direction of Professor Alicja Kledzik, first at Henryk Wieniawski School of Talents in Poznań, and then at I.J. Paderewski Music Academy in Poznań, which he has finished with distinction in 2009.

He developed his skills taking part in master’s courses where he was guided by distinguished pianists such as Viera Nossina, Martin Hughes, Philippe Entremont and Paul Gulda. He studied also at the University of Arts in Berlin, in the class of Professor Rainer Becker and Academy of Music and Dance in Cologne, in the class of Professor Paulo Alvares.

Przemek took numerous prizes in international competitions, to name only Anemos Piano Competition in Rome (2004), N. Rubinstein Chamber Music Competition in Moscow (2007) and H. Czerny-Stefańska Piano Compeition in Poznań (2008) [to see detailed list of Przemek's prizes click here].

Those awards boosted his career and enabled him to record works of K. Szymanowski and S. Rachmaninov in the debut recording 'Decadence', released by the Polish Radio and Ponte Art Production Label. He made also archive recordings for Vatican Radio in Goethe Institute in Rome.

In 2009 Przemek has created a duo with renowned violinist Bartosz Woroch. They perform regularly in Poland and Switzerland.

Przemek played as a soloist of symphonic concerts in Poland, Germany and Ukraine. As a concerto soloist he performed with Amadeus Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra conducted by Agnieszka Duczmal and Symphony Orchestras of Cracow Philharmonic, Koszalin Philharmonic, Sudetes Philharmonic and Lower-Silesia Philharmonic.

He performed his recitals in many Polish cities as well as abroad: in the United States, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Ukraine and Russia. 

He was granted scholarships of the Polish Prime Minister (2003) and The National Children’s Fund (2004). He was also a quadruple holder of the scholarship of the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage and triple holder of the scholarship of the President of Wałbrzych. In 2009 he got the Special Scholarship of the Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region and DAAD Scholarship.
